Mobile Data: The Start of the New Information Age Becca Mcgaughey

Traveling to London has always been a dream of mine. Seeing the city's flashing lights as you drive around, on the left side of the road, in a car that seemingly has switched sides. Just sitting down in a Nando's restaurant and listening to the locals as they use their British accents. It sounds almost like a chimerical dream to me. Then digging into the national security of the country, such as their new census laws, brings out my inner secret agent, which has always been a passion of mine believe it or not. I actually intend on pursuing a career in a national or international security for the United States and has been ever since I watched Mission Impossible. When I started out with this topic, I expected to find many articles on how this change was violating their rights and how it wouldn't stand with the public. I wanted to learn about the drama and how the UK government was messing with their own people, for it would have made a pretty interesting read. I devised my entire first copy of my thesis around how this is infringing upon the rights of the citizens. After deeper research, I found that the revision to mobile data is actually more useful than was the paper census. I was surprised and taken aback, I knew this was going to make my argument a lot harder since there was little to nothing negative about it. I came across many bumps. The biggest was probably when I came across the same article many times, with just slightly different wording. This gave me the same quotes over and over and over again. I had to become very eclectic and resourceful when searching through the web. Another was when I came across very few counter argument sources. I found one that emanated a few solid quotes, but this meant that I had to become a little creative and give some of my own ideas. Which was relatively fun, getting to play the devils advocate. Even though there were struggles with forming a solid argument, I was very excited to find out how this works and if it was the right choice to bring to the States. Actually, upon the completion of my paper, I found that the United States has indeed brought mobile census to the people in the form of an mobile app. While this is such difference than what the English people did, with using phone carriers, it still shows the positive effects this has had on the United Kingdom and that America wants the same outcome.
